We are sad to announce the death of our friend and colleague, Ali Thornton, after a short illness. Ali had been a Board Member at Dundee Voluntary Action since January 2011, and we valued her commitment and her guidance.
Ali found time to contribute her experience and knowledge while working as a Lecturer in Child Health & Social Care. She had a long background in the voluntary sector, and became actively involved in DVA’s Cracking Youth Work and Every Child Matters networks over 15 years ago. At the time she was working with young people as a substance misuse worker.
Our Chief Executive, Christine Lowden, knew Ali well, and will miss her friendship and support. “Ali was quick witted, intelligent, tenacious, could be brutally honest, supportive, caring and fun. I am privileged to have called her my friend and know she will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives she touched.”
Please feel free to publish your tributes and memories of Ali in our comments section on Facebook.
Funeral service at Dundee Crematorium, on Wednesday, March 20, at 3.30 p.m., to which all friends are warmly invited. Family flowers only, please, but donations in aid Fife Rottweiler Rescue may be made at the Crematorium, if desired.
