Dighty Connect Volunteer Opportunities
Wildlife Recording Volunteers
Do you have an interest in nature and would like to learn more about the wildlife we find in our local greenspaces? Join Dighty Connect’s Citizen Science Volunteers. We meet at 9.15am on Wednesday mornings at Douglas Community Centre. From there, we travel to different points along the Dighty, learning to identify and record all manner of wildlife: from butterflies to otters! You don’t need any experience to volunteer with us as you can learn from others in the group and visiting experts. Even if you think that nature and the outdoors are not for you, why not give it a try? You might surprise yourself…
Join Dighty Connect on Tuesday mornings (9.30am, meeting at the Douglas Community Centre) as we carry out a range of conservation tasks along the Dighty. You can help with pond maintenance, path maintenance, tree planting, wildflower sowing, large-scale clear-ups and woodland management – helping to maintain this important wildlife corridor, for both the community and wildlife. You don’t need to have any experience in these activities before joining as you will learn as you go. If you want to join a group of enthusiastic volunteers, contact us and come along.
