Dundee Independent Advocacy Support seeks Board Members

About us

DIAS was established in 1990 to provide multiple advocacy services throughout the city of Dundee. Over subsequent years DIAS has grown and expanded its services for people who have mental health issues, dementia, learning difficulties or physical disabilities.

As a Board our purpose is to ensure a clear voice for vulnerable adults is heard through the provision of independent advocacy.  Our services are based on the principles of equality and fairness; and tailored to meet the expressed and implied needs and wishes of everyone we support.

Who we’re looking for

The Board are particularly keen to hear from candidates who want to give something back into society and are either working or have worked at a senior level.  It goes without saying that DIAS Directors must share a passion and enthusiasm for independent advocacy and can apply their knowledge and expertise to help further develop DIAS as an organisation.

We’d particularly welcome interest from anyone who can demonstrate the following skills: Legal expertise, marketing /media expertise, business/service development to ‘future-proof’ DIAS capabilities through developing new business models and/or partnership working or operational experience within a similar environment.

If you possess good independent judgement and can also work as part of the diverse group of Board Members then we want to hear from you.  We meet 4/5 times a year and there are a few working groups/projects that you may be needed to participate in.

Like most Charities the Director’s role is unremunerated but reasonable expenses incurred may be reimbursed
