Date: Wednesday 3rd October 2018
Location: Dundee (TBC)
On the 3rd October we will bring together practionners, front line staff, national leads, violence against women and girls organisations, gender equality to explore the needs of women in the sex industry and how Scotland can best meet them within a gender equality framework.
With presentations, discussions and multi-media inputs, this will be a unique opportunity to hear up to date information on what womens needs are, what is happening nationally and locally to address them and the challenges faced in preventing and eradicating this form of VAW&G.
There will also be the chance to review your own practice and see how you can take back ideas to your own organisation and local areas.
A full list of speakers and presentations will be released closer to the time but if you are interested in attending please register your initial interest with Encompass at firstname.lastname@example.org
Encompass is a network of Scottish agencies with expertise and experience working with people affected by commercial sexual exploitation, whether they are at risk of exploitation, are currently involved in prostitution, wish to leave prostitution or need support to recover from their experiences.
We understand CSE to be part of the wider continuum of violence against women and girls and recognise that such violence, globally and in Scotland, is rooted in gender inequality. We work to and are informed by the Scottish Government’s definition of violence against women and girls (VAW&G), as outlined in Equally Safe.
